New PSLF Regulations Take Effect July 1, 2023
Direct PLUS Loans Now Eligible for PSLF
Effective July 1, 2023, Direct PLUS loans made to parent borrowers are now eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
Qualifying Repayment Plans
However, it's important to note that Direct PLUS loans cannot be paid via a qualifying repayment plan other than the 10-year standard plan.
Time-Limited Waiver
Federal Student Aid is offering a time-limited waiver that allows student borrowers to count payments from all federal loan programs and repayment plans towards PSLF.
PSLF Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for PSLF, borrowers must work full-time for a government or nonprofit organization and make 120 qualifying payments on their federal student loans.
