Davis Knocks Garcia Down Twice, Ends Fight in Round 8
April 23, 2023In a highly anticipated clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, undefeated American boxer Gervonta "Tank" Davis (29-0, 26 KOs) defended his WBA Lightweight title against fellow undefeated boxer Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) in a Premiere Boxing Champions (PBC) on Showtime PPV event.
The fight lived up to its billing as a slugfest, with both fighters landing heavy blows in the early rounds. However, Davis began to assert his dominance in the second round, knocking Garcia down with a hard left hook. Garcia recovered and made it through the round, but Davis continued to press the action, landing several more clean shots.
In the seventh round, a devastating right uppercut from Davis sent Garcia crashing to the canvas once again. Garcia tried to get up, but his legs gave out, and the referee stopped the fight. It was the first time in Garcia's career that he had been knocked down and stopped.
